چکیده

The Gulf Journal of Dermatology and Venereology ABSTRACT Psoriasis vulgaris and bullous pemphigoid represent two clinically well-characterized, chronic, inflammatory skin diseases. The concomitant occurrence of these two entities in a patient is rare, and the exact nature of this relationship is not clear. We describe a 31-year-old woman with a history of plaque-type psoriasis who presented with generalized pustular psoriasis after which she developed dessiminated vesiculobullous lesions. Skin biopsies showed the typical histologic and immunohistochemical traits of bullous pemphigoid. Bullous pemphigoid is the autoimmune blistering disease that has most often been associated with psoriasis. The pathogenic relationship between psoriasis and bullous pemphigoid is unclear. It has been postulated that the autoimmune process responsible for bullous pemphigoid lesions may be induced by ultraviolet light therapy, topical corticosteroids, and/or the inflammatory processes that occur in psoriasis.

Coexistence of psoriasis and pemphigoid--only a coincidence?

It has previously been reported that pemphigoid coexists with psoriasis more frequently than it could be predicted on the basis of random distribution in the general population. In this study we present three psoriatic patients who developed tense blisters, which most likely were not provoked by anti-psoriatic treatment. Diagnosis of bullous pemphigoid in these cases was established by an overl...

Pemphigus foliaceus developing on pre-existing psoriasis: a supposed pathogenetic linkage.

Sir, The literature reports several cases of psoriasis associated with bullous diseases, the most frequent of which is bullous pemphigoid (1 – 3). By contrast, pemphigusrelated disorders are less frequently reported in association with psoriasis. We report the case of a patient with long-standing psoriasis who developed pemphigus foliaceus and discuss the possible pathogenic relationship betwee...

Pemphigus Foliaceus Associated with Psoriasis during the Course of Narrow-Band UVB Therapy: A Simple Coincidence?

Although psoriasis and bullous diseases are considered to be completely different disease entities, the literature has reported a few cases of psoriasis associated with bullous diseases, most of which are bullous pemphigoid. In limited cases, pemphigus foliaceus has also been reported in association with psoriasis. In most of them, pemphigus lesions usually developed on an untreated patient wit...
